Gas sampling and montly inorganic N analyzing

May 25, 2006

Collected gas samples in LWB, LWG, JWB and JWG.

Sampled intact soil cores in all sites (5cm depth, 5 points x 3 replicates x 8 sites).

Put the sampled soil into the bottles containing 2 M Kcl extact solution.

Moved residual soils to lab and stored in 4oC for measuring soil moisture

Test result of Dr. Loynachan's incubator

May 19, 2006

Downloaded temperature data from a data logger which was installed inside Dr. Loynachan's incubator.

Temperature data showed that the incubator keep 12~13 oC.

24hr gas sampling in riparian buffers and a crop field

May 18~19, 2006

Collected gas samples (3 replicates) and measured air temperature and soil temperature and moisture (soil depth 10cm, 3 replicates) every 3hr (10 am to next day 7 am).

* Sampling site
A woody buffer, a warm season and cool season grass filter and a crop field in Ron Risdal farm

* Time schedule for gas sampling (8 times)
10:00, 13:00, 16:00, 19:00, 22:00, 1:00, 4:00, 7:00

* Participant ( 4 persons)
Zack, Nathan, Grant, and Dong-Gill

Checking an Incubator and groundwater sampling

May 17, 2006

Installed a temperature data inside an incubator of Dr. Loynachan to check the incubator abaility to keep constant temperature (13~15 0C).

Collected ground water samples for dissolved N2O analyzing in Ron Risdal North and South sites.

Reinstall anchors, a data logger and mesh bags

May 16, 2006

1. Reinstalled 5 anchors, a data logger with a soil moisture sensor and a soil temperature sensor (5cm soil depth) and 15 mesh bags containing soybean residuals. GPS helped to find original spots where the anchors were located before we removed them.

2. Downloaded rain data from a rain guage data logger in Ron Risdal farm and then changed batterires of the rain guage data logger.
