Groundwater sampling for dissolved N2O gas

Collected groundwater samples (10ml, 3 replicates) and storaged in the He evacuated vials (20ml, 4oC) in North and South Ron Risdal farm site.

Gas sampling and collecting litter and root bags

Collected gas samples in all sites but a crop field.

Collected litter and root bags in a woody buffer, a warm season grass filter and a cool season grass filter in Ron Risdal farm.

Fertilizers were sprayed in a crop field and tilled again.

Gas sampling

Collected gas samples in all site but crop field.
The land owner stated farming in the crop field.

Fig.1 Lindsey is collecting gas samples in cool season grass filter in Ron Risdal farm. The grass filter is getting start to turn green to greet spring, however, it has alread been summer here. Air temperature was 33~39oC in the Bear Creek watershed.

Gas sampling and removed anchors and a data logger in crop field

Collected gas samples in all sites.

Removed 5 anchors and a data logger (soil temp and soil moisture) in crop field, Ron Risdal farm site because the owner will strat seeding (corn) soon.

Intact soil core sampling and N mineralization experiment

April 5, 2006

Collected intact soil cores ( 3 each/ per a gas sampling plot, 5cm depth) in all sites.

Picked up the buried poly bags for N mineralization experiment and buried new poly bags for the experiment.

All collected soils (10g) were sunk in 2M Kcl (100ml) in the field and moved to the lab .

Residual soils were moved to the lab and then stored in the 4 oC.
