C2H2 treatment previous experiment

June 22-23, 2006

Produced pure C2H2 gas from reaction of CaC2 and water.

Treated C2H2 10 K Pa to intact soil cores.

Sampled gas 3hr, 6hr, 12, 18hr and 24hr later after C2H2 treatment.

Intact soil core sampling

June 21, 2006

Sampled intact soil cores (1 m depth, n=3) using a jack hammer and a jack in the first gas sampling point of John Risdal farm site.

Moved to lab and top 0-10cm and bottom 90-100 cm soils were seperated.

Put the seperated soil into Mason jars and storaged in the lab cooler.

Reinstall anchors, a data logger and mesh bags

May 16, 2006

1. Reinstalled 5 anchors, a data logger with a soil moisture sensor and a soil temperature sensor (5cm soil depth) and 15 mesh bags containing soybean residuals. GPS helped to find original spots where the anchors were located before we removed them.

2. Downloaded rain data from a rain guage data logger in Ron Risdal farm and then changed batterires of the rain guage data logger.
